William Ackerman

As a best-selling guitarist, producer for George Winston, and president of Windham Hill, Ackerman is a new age paragon.
"Windham Hill" was originally the name of Ackerman's own carpentry firm, Windham Hill Builders.
Ackerman's first guitar compositions were for theater productions at Stanford University (from which he later dropped out).
Ackerman created his distinctive guitar sound by tuning the instrument to unconventional "base values."
Ackerman left Windham Hill in 1990, but remains the most influential force in the rise of New Age Acoustic music.
