The Doobie Brothers
Tre anni dopo la fondazione del gruppo, i Doobie Brothers di San José sfondarono grazie al boogie rock da party del loro album "The Captain and Me" del 1973. Il singolo "Long Train Running" aveva già raggiunto il successo quando il cantante Michael McDonald si unì alla band facendole intraprendere una nuova direzione. Canzoni come "Takin' It To The Streets" o "It Keeps You Runnin'" erano più funky e soul, ma ebbero comunque un buon successo. "What A Fool Believes" vinse un Grammy nel 1979. Nel 1983 la band si sciolse per riunirsi poi nel 1989, ma senza raggiungere il successo precedente.
