Led by Penelope Houston, the Avengers' melodic, yet sneering and forceful music sounds as relevent today as it did in 1979. A band for barely five years, San Francisco's Avengers stand with the Dead Kennedys as one of the best Bay Area Punk bands. Penelope Houston gets a lot of credit for the Avengers, however Greg Westermark's guitar gave them their musical identity.
