After the breakup of Fields of the Nephilim, vocalist Carl McCoy founded the Nefilim while the remaining members added vocalist Alan Delaney and drifted into Rubicon. Sold on a BIG rock sound by this time, the lads were vulnerable to strains of Journey-meets-U2 arena rock excess. What Starts Ends and Room 101 aren't bad records -- the vocals growl, the guitars resound -- but neither matches the desperados-of-doom majesty of The Nephilim.
