Based around the songs of Mark Kozelek, Red House Painters take introspection and threadbare honesty to a new level. Mark Kozelek from Red House Painters plays the bass player in Cameron Crowe's 2000 film "Almost Famous." Red House Painters started in San Francisco in 1989. Early support from American Music Club's Mark Eitzel directly led to Red House Painters being signed by 4AD. The band's first release, "Down Colorful Hill," is a collection of demos recorded in 1989 and 1990.
