Kelly Clarkson Shows Off “All I Ever Wanted” Hits on “SNL”

Kelly Clarkson celebrated the release of her new album All I Ever Wanted with an appearance on the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend, performing two songs off the new LP. Clarkson kicked things off with first single “My Life Would Suck Without You” (video above), a the Max Martin-penned hit that Rolling Stone called an early candidate for Single of the Year.

Rock Daily often gripes about SNL’s sound problems, which sabotaged musical guests TV on the Radio and Jonas Brothers, but Clarkson performed well in the spotlight of several million television viewers, handling SNL’s stage like it was American Idol. If we had minor criticism, it sounded like Clarkson’s vocals and the lead guitar were competing in a “Who’s Louder” contest, but we’ll give the sound team a pass this week, especially considering the levels were all fixed up by the time Clarkson took the stage to perform All I Ever Wanted’s planned next single “I Do Not Hook Up.” (Video after the jump.) As noteworthy as the Clarkson performances was the return of former SNL castmate and current 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, who hosted this weekend’s fairly funny episode. All I Ever Wanted is expected to top the sales chart this week.
