Metallica spent yesterday in the outskirts of Los Angeles filming a “short film” for Death Magnetic’s first featured track “The Day That Never Comes.” The video was shot by The Celebration director Thomas Vinterberg. Check out photos from the shoot here. Britney Spears‘ father Jamie had his conservatorship over the singer extended for the remainder of 2008, a judge ruled yesterday. Spears can file to terminate the conservatorship at another court date on October 25th, however. John Mayer lobbied for the L.A. City Council to place restrictions on the paparazzi at a hearing yesterday. “I don’t sit before you today to ask that you ban the paparazzi,” Mayer testified, “I’m asking you to regulate it, officialize it, tax it, legitimize it.” A pair of live releases by the Clash will hit shelves in October. The band’s 1982 Shea Stadium concert will come to CD, while a DVD titled The Clash Live – Revolution Rock will collect many of the band’s best performances.
