A pioneer of House deejaying, Derrick Carter emerged out of the Chicago scene in the late '80s. Carter has remixed tracks for the Post-Rock indie ensemble Tortoise, who are also from Chicago. Carter helped the early '90s Chicago House revival gain momentum.
